There’s a wealth of history attached to the fine old town of Bideford, which was once the third busiest port in Britain, though those days are long gone and it’s now a quiet and characterful market town. It has figures of romance and derring-do like Sir Richard Grenville and Sir Walter Raleigh linked to it. The town however is famous for its historic bridge over the River Torridge 

There are a number of great wedding venues in Bideford like the Royal Hotel set by the River. There are more venues if you head towards the coast in Westward Ho! Travel further down the coast to Widdecombe and Ilfracombe, there are great venues like the Ash Barton Estate, Cedars Hotel and The Sandy Cove Hotel. One of the best venues in the area is the fabulous Tunnels beaches in Ilfracombe
