Bude grew up as an agricultural trading port, serving the surrounding remote rural area, to which it was linked by a 35 mile long Bude Canal built in the 1820’s. Known for its inclined planes instead of locks, the 2 miles to Helebridge survive with pleasant towpath walks. Bude later became a Victorian & Edwardian resort and it remains a popular family seaside attraction. Crooklets Beach is used for surfing. The Castle (now council offices) was built in 1850 by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, best known for his invention of incandescent lighting and the steam powered road coach” -AZ
Bude has some fabulous beaches and using venues such as The Caste, An Mor Hotel or The Falcon Hotel with easy access to the beach and the opportunities for pictures makes for a very special wedding day
Due to how busy Bude can get in the summer, using a venue like the Castle, which is located almost on the beach means that traffic is one less thing to worry about.
